We all experience those moments when our faith is shaken and doubt creeps in. Having faith doesn’t mean you have it all figured out—it’s about holding on and digging deeper when you feel like letting go. If you’re in a space of doubt, hold space, process your feelings, and incorporate these habits today to reconnect with your faith.

1. Be Real With God (and Yourself)

If you’re struggling with doubt, that’s okay, but there’s no point pretending everything’s fine. Instead, get honest with God. In Psalm 13, David cries out, “How long, Lord? Will you forget me forever?” Here’s the rub: God can handle your frustration, questions, and doubts. Pour it out. God will never judge—he already knows what’s in your heart, and venting it in prayer is the first step to healing and strengthening your faith.

Romans 1:20 reminds us that “God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made.” Step outside, breathe in that fresh air, and let the beauty and wonder of God’s creation remind you that God is bigger than your doubts.

11. Keep a Journal of God’s Faithfulness

When doubt sets in, we tend to have short memories and forget all the times God came through for us in the past. Deuteronomy 4:9 says, “Only be careful, and watch yourselves closely so that you do not forget the things your eyes have seen.” Keep a journal of all the moments God showed up—whether it was an answered prayer, a blessing, or something small that reminded you of His presence. Then, when doubt hits, you’ve got all the proof that you need that God has and will always be there, even if it’s not clear right now. Remember, he always has a plan, and what you think you want may not always be in your best interest.

Comparison is the thief of joy and faith. Never look at someone else’s relationship with God and feel you don’t measure up. As Corinthians 10:12 warns, “When they measure themselves by themselves and compare themselves with themselves, they are not wise.” Everyone’s faith journey is unique, so don’t let anyone’s experience define yours. Focus on your walk with God and all the ways he’s been there and not someone else’s path.

13. Treat Your Body Like a Temple

God gave you this incredible body that has carried you everywhere throughout your life, so give it thanks in the same way you would the lord. When you’re tired, stressed, or neglect self-care, doubt and anxiety creep in more easily. 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 reminds us that our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit. Prioritizing your body and physical health will do wonders for your mental and spiritual well-being. Sleep for 7-9 hours every night, eat a well-balanced antioxidant-rich diet, and exercise daily; we should get 8000-10000 steps daily for our health and longevity.

14. Practice Daily Surrender

One of the hardest parts of keeping faith is learning to let go, especially in difficult times. It’s tempting to control your life, but things are often out of our control, so it’s important to surrender to God’s Will. Philippians 4:6-7 says, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.” The next time you feel yourself spiraling, take a deep breath and surrender your thoughts and problems to God. It doesn’t mean everything will magically get better overnight, but when you trust in God and the process, you will feel stronger, more resilient, and more faithful.

Going through doubt alone can be a heavy burden to carry, but remember you are not alone, nor are you judged. Hebrews 10:24-25 encourages us to “spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together.” If you don’t already have a community of faith, reach out. Whether it’s a local church, a Bible study, or an online group, surrounding yourself with people who are also walking the path of faith will give you the support and encouragement you need to feel more connected.
